Welcome alockell. I hope you find value in these posts and threads. I surely do. We are blessed with some really sharp minds, true hearts, and wise storytellers here. There is much to be learned, shared.
Glad that you have been able to find some anchor points and some things to work on going forward. That’s why most of us are here. Thanks for sharing your experience. Healing, awakening, building strength and recasting our path in life; all worthy and honorable endeavors. Stick around.
I am always slow on the uptake on these things, as I am too literal.
Mrs. Smith is extremely slender, but flinches whenever I use the word “fat” in any context related to a female. It’s just thoughtcrime now. (Virtually all my women friends, who are all quite slender and long, bristle similarly.) Not a big deal, and I should credit her with also flinching when I describe a male friend of hers as “pudgy.” Body awareness FTW.
Other verbotenisms:
I once said “It’s not like I’m a gun queer or anything, I just have a few.” “Queer” — out.
“She’s very nice (about a female friend). Kind of *sad*, though; wistful maybe.” “Sad”: out. SIW are never “sad.”
